Almayate is a small town located in the municipality of Vélez-Málaga, within the province of Malaga, in the region of Andalucía. It is known for its beaches and stunning mountain views. It is divided between Almayate Bajo (coastal area) and Almayate Alto (countryside).
Almayate Bajo has approximately 800 meters of sandy beaches, stretching along several sections, each with their own unique appeal. Today, for nature enthusiasts, Almayate offers several trails and routes to visit old quarries and sites whilst admiring the rich wildlife, flora and views.
In order to explore the town's historic architecture, there are sites such as the Church of San Andrés, the Almayate Castle ruins and Torre Manganeta, a watchtower dating back to the 16th century which offers stunning panoramic views of the sea and surrounding area.
