Caleta de Vélez is a small coastal town located 38 kilometres east of Málaga within the province of Málaga. Its beach is 977 metres long and, together Torre del Mar, Algarrobo Costa and Mezquitilla, the promenade stretches for 8 kilometres and is a great place for walking and cycling. Caleta de Vélez is the mid-coastal point of the Axarquia and it is famed for its fresh fish and shellfish. The port is divided into 2 parts: the marina and the fishing port. It is the main fishing port on the Costa del Sol.
Caleta is also unique in having a village atmosphere with all amenities on hand plus it is a two minute drive to the Mediterranean motorway which connects east to west and north to south.
Visitors can stroll along the promenade, sample fresh seafood at one of the many beachfront restaurants, or simply soak up the sun on the sandy beaches. There is a colourful street market held on Saturday mornings.
The popular 18-hole golf course (Baviera Golf) lies directly behind Caleta de Vélez and attracts many golfers from all parts of the world.
