Corumbela is a beautiful whitewashed village perched on a ridge that can be admired from a far. It is one of the smallest villages you can find in the Axarquía and was previously known by the Romans as ‘La Paloma Blanca’ (the white dove).
It is situated approximately 600m above sea level and has a population of around 300 inhabitants, most of which are Spanish. Corumbela is located within a 20 minute drive from Vélez Málaga and approximately and hour from Málaga airport.
The amenities found here include a supermarket, bar/restaurant, a primary school and doctor’s surgery.
The village is known for its wood fire cooked bread, with an ancient family recipe that has been passed down through generations. There is a festival to celebrate their delicacy, which takes place during the first weekend of June.
